To be honest I bet that Threads is just a Mastodon instance. The whole thing with “interfacing it with the fediverse” is probably just a coverup so meta can change the code just enough to not fall under the purview of the AGPL—which is the standard for libre networking programs—and get away with scraping the entire fediverse.

To be honest, I’ll even go so far as to bet that Meta will scrape shit-tons of data off the fediverse. I haven’t used Mastodon in ages—Mastodon fucking sucks—but it’s still highly suspicious to me.

I don’t have any actual evidence to back this up—I’m writing this based on a gut feeling.
